Tales of Black & Red

These pieces mark the beginning of a new series of illustrations. For me the figures radiate a relaxed comfort with their identity.

Many years ago when I was quite young, I remember an older acquaintance I admired hugely. She was completely at ease in her own skin. One day we were walking along together when her wrap-around skirt suddenly blew off in a strong wind and went flying down the high street like a chaffinch on crack. She was completely unfazed... Still one of the most impressive things I have witnessed.
